Gene therapy enables genes to be introduced into an individual to try to cure a disease.
Gene therapy is a treatment method that consists in inserting or replacing a gene in the cells of an individual who has a disease caused by a gene deficiency, so that a protein that was non-functional or absent (the cause of the disease) will be expressed. Gene therapy therefore makes it possible to reintroduce a functioning gene to restore a physiological function.
