Oxidative decarboxylation is a chemical reaction in which a decarboxylation process converts pyruvate (the final breakdown product of glucose) creating NADH (coenzyme), which is essential to the formation of ATP.
R-COOH => R-H + CO2
This reaction requires an enzyme, decarboxylase.
